WHAT IS METABOLIC HEALTH AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

Metabolic health is a complex set of interactions between the external stimuli to the body (the outside world) and how the body perceives and responds to those stimuli. While the words metabolic and metabolism are commonly associated with a person’s weight, it is important to appreciate that metabolic health is much bigger than just weight.

Think of metabolic health as a large orchestra. Each of us might be able to identify a single instrument as our favorite, or the one we believe is most important to the overall sound of the symphony. However, the true beauty of the orchestra comes from the intricate combinations and balances of various instruments. Timing, volume, and several other factors also play roles in how the sounds are perceived and responded to by each person.

Simply put, metabolic health is not as elementary as calories consumed minus calories burned.
